The origin for this inspired recipe is from Antonio de Ledesma’s 1685 medicinal recipe for chocolate. This is one of the earliest European recipes, & at the time was only used as a drink. The chilli & vanilla are Aztec ingredients combined with the European flavours of orange & other spices
